On Wednesday, 18 March 2026, an engaging evening titled “Changing in Style – Sustainability in Fashion” took place at Den Bell in Antwerp, bringing together a diverse audience eager to explore the future of fashion. Organised by Soroptimist International Club Antwerpen Anthos, the event highlighted the urgent need for a transition towards more sustainable and circular fashion systems.

The keynote speaker, Prof. Annick Schramme, of University of Antwerp, the Just Fashion coordinator and recipient of the Soroptimist Belgium Prize 2024, shared valuable insights into the evolution of the fashion industry. She outlined how circular models are reshaping production and consumption patterns, while emphasizing the responsibility of both companies and consumers in driving change. The discussion was moderated by Ruth Goossens of REantwerp, who provided practical examples from a pioneering circular fashion initiative focused on social employment and local engagement. The session successfully linked conceptual insights to real-world application, offering both inspiration and concrete actions.

Beyond raising awareness, the evening also contributed to meaningful causes, with all proceeds donated to KickCancer and Project Origine of De Kraamvogel.

This initiative also demonstrated the power of reaching broader audiences through community-driven organisations. Soroptimists, a global network of professional women, work to empower women and girls through education and advocacy. By hosting events like this, they connect sustainability topics with new audiences, fostering inclusive dialogue and amplifying social impact.
