On 18 March 2026, JUST FASHION joined the European ‘make-a-thek’ project at the Public Permeke Library in Antwerp for the third session of the make-a-thek library pilot aimed at youth aged 15–26 with an interest in circular and sustainable fashion and makerspaces.

The project ‘make-a-thek’ is an exciting EU-funded initiative that brings modular, easy-to-replicate makerspaces into public libraries, offering open access to innovative approaches to fashion and crafts. These spaces are designed to respond to the needs of local communities, helping young makers explore sustainable and circular design practices.

During the session, participants engaged with representatives from two initiatives at the forefront of sustainable fashion in Europe. Firstly, Sharifa Jamaldin from Fashion Revolution Belgium introduced one of the world’s leading fashion activism movements, which advocates for greater transparency through investigative research, informative content, and creative campaigns. This was followed by a JUST FASHION presentation led by Anna-Lena Müller and Paz Yanez-Murillo from the coordinating team at the University of Antwerp. The session began with an interactive group activity exploring how SMEs’ decisions in the fashion industry influence business development and sustainability outcomes. The team then shared key insights into the project, concluding with an engaging Q&A session.

The session proved highly engaging, with participants actively contributing ideas and showing strong commitment to circular practices. It offered a valuable opportunity for JUST FASHION to expand its outreach, presenting the project to a relevant young audience and inspiring new perspectives on sustainable making.
