In an era where “greenwashing” is a constant risk, Staff Jersey is shifting the narrative from promises to proven data. As one of the six specialized pilot cases of the Just Fashion project, the company is bridging the gap between high-end textile craftsmanship and the digital future. This transformation is not a solitary journey: ART-ER and the research lab CQT are working together to provide the technical compass for defining complex indicators, while Materahub guides the evolution of the business model to ensure these innovations create long-term economic value.
The heart of this experimentation lies in the Digital Product Passport (DPP), a tool designed to track the “environmental DNA” of every fabric. Through the DPP, Staff Jersey aims to make transparency a concrete value, allowing for the mapping and sharing of data across the entire value chain. The technical journey currently focuses on defining a matrix of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), developed to reflect tangible and measurable practices, such as:
- Resource efficiency: monitoring energy and water footprints per unit of product, which is also essential for optimizing consumption.
- Circular potential: analyzing material composition to facilitate future resale models and recycling processes.
- Supply chain integrity: verifying local production and social responsibility standards through integrated digital certifications like GRS or GOTS.
“We are turning a regulatory problem into a competitive opportunity,” the team reflects. Despite the challenges of collecting precise data in an evolving legislative landscape, the project has already successfully structured a software architecture capable of hosting the entire product life cycle. For Staff Jersey, the DPP is the ultimate tool to validate the excellence of the Carpi district, making transparency the new standard for the global fashion market.
