Advancing Circularity in Children’s Fashion: Boboli Pilot Progress

Mar 31, 2026 | Platform News

Within the Just Fashion project, Boboli is actively progressing in its pilot activities aimed at enhancing circularity across its value chain. The pilot focuses on testing innovative approaches, including in-store garment collection, recycled material validation, and the exploration of new circular business models.

Four interconnected activities have been designed to address key challenges. The first focuses on assessing the quality and durability of recycled fibers compared to virgin materials, particularly important for children’s clothing, which requires high resistance to wear. Initial laboratory results are encouraging, showing comparable performance between recycled and conventional fibers.

A second activity explores improvements in traceability systems and Scope 3 carbon footprint calculations. In this context, a roadmap has already identified opportunities for integrating artificial intelligence to better leverage collected data. This includes supporting decision-making in future collections to reduce environmental impact and preparing for the implementation of the Digital Product Passport (DPP).

In parallel, Boboli is analyzing potential circular business models, such as second-hand sales, leasing systems for children’s garments, and new product categories based on recycled materials.

Finally, efforts are underway to evaluate and optimize in-store collection systems. Early insights reveal key performance indicators linked to the most effective collection channels and incentive mechanisms, helping to increase customer engagement and garment recovery rates.

Together, these activities contribute to a holistic validation of strategies that can significantly improve circularity in the fashion industry, particularly within the children’s segment.
